Council should require a high level of design excellence for development within the Bankstown City Centre. Any development over 5-6 storeys should exhibit design excellence and be subject to a design competition.
Also, Council should investigate increasing height restrictions in the Bankstown City Centre, in line with other major centres (if Airport limits allow such). This will improve the quality of design and variation in building designs, rather than developing an uninteresting skyline City Centre.

Forward thinking implies sustainability of everything we do into the future. A future which will be a real challenge mainly because of climate change. Every aspect of city living should be looked at in terms of sustainability. Unsustainable issues should be addressed. There is already a lot of innovative technology available that can be rolled out on a wide scale economically. If none is available research should be encouraged in local centers of knowledge.
